Overview: TANROADS is responsible for maintaining and improving Tanzania Mainland's Trunk and Regional Roads Network. This includes overseeing axle load control through weighbridge operations. Currently, the TANROADS Kilimanjaro office is looking for a qualified Tanzanian to fill the role of Resident Engineer for the project aimed at upgrading the Same-Kisiwani-Mkomazi (100.5km) Road to Bitumen Standard. This role specifically focuses on Lot 2: Ndungu-Mkomazi Section (36km).
Job Title: Resident Engineer – 1 Position
Entry Requirements
To be eligible, you should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer registration with the Engineering Registration Board (ERB), along with a valid practice certificate.
- A postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering is an added advantage.
- At least 10 years of experience in road and bridge construction, design, supervision, and contract management, especially under FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
- Hands-on involvement in at least three road construction projects of similar scale within the last 10 years, serving as a resident engineer or in a similar capacity.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
Job Responsibilities
As a Resident Engineer, you’ll be in charge of overseeing the entire project. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading both technical and administrative site teams.
- Monitoring site operations and contractor performance.
- Planning and organizing project schedules.
- Ensuring continuous quality control throughout the project.
- Managing contract terms and preparing monthly progress reports.
- Overseeing contractor billing and ensuring timely payments.
- Attending and recording regular site meetings.
- Working closely with TANROADS’s Environmental Specialist to implement social and environmental impact measures.
- Maintaining all essential project records like diaries, reports, instructions, test results, measurements, and payment documents.
- Handling any additional assignments from the Project Manager.
Terms of Service
- Contract Type: One-year contract.
- Salary: Based on TANROADS Salary scale, with additional site allowances under TANROADS Incentive Policy.
