Role Overview
Ifakara Health Institute is on the lookout for an energetic Human Resource Officer Intern to join our team. In this role, you’ll dive into various HR tasks like handling recruitment processes, managing leave and timesheets, coordinating health insurance, and much more.
Key Responsibilities
1. Managing the Staff Database
- Keep our staff records up-to-date, including details on temporary staff, collaborators, interns, and volunteers.
- Maintain personnel files, ensuring all critical documents are filed properly and securely.
2. HR Support Functions
- Coordinate with unit leaders and grants office before issuing contracts for temporary staff, collaborators, interns, and volunteers.
- Prepare staff contracts, ensuring they’re signed on time and filed correctly.
- Organize and facilitate the entire recruitment process – from advertising roles to shortlisting candidates, onboarding, and induction.
- Submit new staff details monthly to the Higher Education Students Loan Board.
- Address staff queries related to HR policies, benefits, and other related concerns.
- Review timesheet reports, following up where necessary.
3. Staff Welfare Responsibilities
- Ensure new staff members receive their health insurance cards promptly.
- Manage the Maafa fund processes for staff support in the case of death, and inform new employees about the fund.
4. Additional Duties
- Perform any HR-related duties assigned by your supervisor.
What You’ll Need
Qualifications
- A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- High regard for confidentiality and professionalism.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and eagerness to learn in a dynamic environment.
