Job Description
The Executive Director at TACAIDS will play a crucial role in leading the fight against HIV and AIDS in Mainland Tanzania. If you're passionate about public health and have the skills to guide national strategies, this is an exciting opportunity for you to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing HIV and AIDS Policies:
The Executive Director will be responsible for creating policy guidelines to tackle the HIV and AIDS epidemic in Tanzania. This includes overseeing the management of policies and ensuring they align with the National Strategy for HIV and AIDS in Mainland Tanzania.Strategic Framework Development:
You will help develop a comprehensive Strategic Framework for all HIV and AIDS control programs. This framework will guide the planning and execution of activities in line with the National Multi-Sectoral Strategy.Coordination of National and International Stakeholders:
A big part of this role involves working with national and international partners. You'll need to coordinate various HIV and AIDS prevention programs and ensure that all stakeholders are aligned and working toward the same goals.Resource Mobilization and Monitoring:
You'll be tasked with mobilizing, disbursing, and monitoring resources to ensure equitable distribution across HIV and AIDS prevention programs in Tanzania.Information Sharing and Advocacy:
The Executive Director will lead efforts to share information about the HIV epidemic and its effects on Tanzanians. You'll also advocate for HIV and AIDS prevention and education at both national and international levels.Promote Research and Innovation:
Research is key in the fight against HIV. You'll encourage research, information sharing, and the documentation of HIV and AIDS prevention practices and strategies.Advocacy and Public Education:
A major responsibility is to promote advocacy and education to raise awareness about HIV prevention and the importance of safe practices in Tanzania.Monitoring and Evaluation:
You’ll be responsible for monitoring and evaluating all ongoing HIV and AIDS activities to ensure they’re achieving the desired outcomes.Coordinating the National Response:
As the Executive Director, you'll coordinate the national response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic and ensure it aligns with the National Multi-Sectoral Strategy.Promoting Access to Treatment:
You’ll work to support efforts in finding a cure, promoting access to HIV treatment, and advancing the development of vaccines.Protecting Rights:
It’s essential to protect the human and communal rights of those living with and affected by HIV. You’ll collaborate with other sectors to ensure these rights are safeguarded.Supporting Positive Living:
You'll promote and advocate for positive living for people living with HIV, ensuring they have the resources and support they need.Advising the Government:
The Executive Director will advise the government on HIV and AIDS prevention and control, ensuring policies and practices are up-to-date and effective.Identifying Obstacles and Solutions:
You will need to identify barriers to implementing HIV policies and programs, ensuring that all HIV and AIDS targets and activities are met.Supervising HIV-related Activities:
You'll supervise all activities related to the prevention and control of the HIV epidemic, including health care, counseling, and social support for affected individuals.Building Partnerships:
The role includes building and maintaining partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, donors, and other key stakeholders to strengthen the national HIV response.Ensuring Legal Compliance:
As Executive Director, you’ll ensure TACAIDS follows all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of its operations.Managing Resources and Budget:
You’ll oversee the budget and financial performance of TACAIDS, ensuring funds are allocated effectively and that financial accountability is maintained.Representing TACAIDS:
You will represent TACAIDS at various national and international forums to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS, as well as to advocate for important policy changes.Reporting and Performance Review:
Regular reporting is key to tracking performance. The Executive Director will present updates to the Commission and the Prime Minister’s Office on achievements, challenges, and future strategies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Public Health, HIV and AIDS, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A medical background will be an added advantage.
Remuneration:
The salary will be in line with the Government scale.
