Data Officer's Position Overview
To augment the team, IHI is seeking a competent and seasoned Data Officer. This function entails data management for the National AIDS Control Program (NACP), the Kilombero and Ulanga Antiretroviral Cohort (KIULARCO), various research databases housed within the Chronic Diseases Clinic of Ifakara (CDCI), and Heart and Lung Clinic.
Important Correspondences
Your few main responsibilities as the Data Officer at Ifakara Health Institute will include:
- Ensuring the accuracy and quality of data within the KIULARCO and other research databases is data quality control.
- Data Management: Underlying data entry, quality control, and extraction activities, data management follows KIULARCO and NACP recommendations.
- Under the leadership of Senior Project Statisticians, data processing and reporting assistance for several research projects housed inside the KIULARCO helps to ensure accuracy.
- Working closely with the Data Manager, cooperative management ensures KIULARCO, NACP, and other research datasets is under control. This covers data quality assurance, data entering supervision, and data extraction of pertinent relevance.
- Dealing with any data searches concerning the KIULARCO or NACP databases and making sure they are satisfactorially answered.
- Assisting with data analysis, interpretation, and reporting for current KIULARCO projects You will also contribute to written publications and reports on KIULARCO and joint projects.
- Create monthly and annual KIULARCO reports and prepare quarterly HIV care/ART reports for district and national authorities.
- Helping the Heart and Lung Clinic to keep a cohort of patients suffering with chronic heart and lung problems.
- Teamwork: Helping to control quality by actively attending journal clubs. teaching the staff statistical ideas and data management techniques and direction.
- Attending all required IHI and CDCI conferences. When needed, you will also attend government, MOH, and other significant partner-organized seminars, workshops, and conferences.
- Research Coordinating: Helping IHI and other partners plan and support their respective research projects.
- Completing any responsibilities assigned by the Project Leader, Site Director of IHI, or Director of St. Francis Referral Hospital (SFRH).
Skills and Background
You should have to be qualified for the Data Officer post by:
- degrees in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- Experience using SQL, ODK, OpenMRS, and REDCap database management technologies.
- Understanding of basic to intermediate level programming languages.
- knowledge of data governance comprising data privacy, security, and quality criteria.
- Minimum two years of data administration experience, ideally in a research environment.
- One plus is past employment or volunteer work done in a research facility.
